Metal Snowmen 1by ~half-dragon

Here's the first picture of the two snow men that I made in my machine shop class. I have been there for a long time learning to be a Machinist. I love it there and I am learning a lot. There's were programed using Featurecam. Oh and before anyone asks there both solid pieces of metal. The lighter one is aluminum and the other is steel. not sure what kind but its probably cold rolled steel.

They lok so similar, I would ahve figured they were both steel. The aluminium, I doubt it's pure, is it Al-Mg alloy? Any idea?

Nice sculpture.

Thank you. Its in the 2xxx aluminum alloy series. I cant remember the exact number.

Ah I am a machinist. That series of metal is very machinable. So I am pretty sure its that kind.

I think I like the aluminum better then the steel. I like both but for some reason my eye keeps going to the aluminum one in both the pics :)

Ah so you like the lighter color or is it the finish? Er I mean the shine on it? Sorry I forget that finish is a term not commonly used.
